Troubleshooting Guide

The Perfusion Assistant didn't respond, responded with an error message or timed out.
Cause: When the Perfusion Assistant doesn't respond or times out, it could be due to various reasons.
  • high traffic on Perfusion Mind mobile app
  • server-side issue
  • server overload
  • user's prompt was too complex
  • user asked too many questions within a single prompt
Fix: Close and reopen the Perfusion Mind mobile app to reset the Perfusion Assistant. Don't worry, questions that do not yield responses are not counted against your daily question limit.
The hyperlinks to PubMed aren't working when I press them.
Cause: Large language model (LLM) misunderstood its internal instructions.
Fix: Because the Perfusion Assistant builds on your conversation, if you ask another literature search question the LLM may recall a previous answer without hyperlinks. It's best to close the app and restart it.
The Perfusion Assistant's response was formatted incorrectly.
Cause: LLM misinterpreted and/or misread the internal (hidden) system instructions. LLMs have a multitude of instructions and code to interpret. From time to time it will make mistakes and need to be reset.
Fix: Close and reopen the Perfusion Mind app to reset the perfusion assistant's memory and prevent the issue from recurring.
The Perfusion Assistant's answer was wrong.
Cause: LLM misinterpreted and/or misread the source files from which it gathers information and formulates a response, the LLM "hallucinated" (Google it...) or the source files from which the LLM gathers information and formulates a response did not have the information abou which you asked.
Fix: Let us know! Please either take a screen shot and email it to us or write out your question and the Perfusion Assistant's answer and email it to us. We are constantly adding and updating information so that the Perfusion Assistant gives the best answers to all your question. Letting us know ASAP will allow us to specifically tweak this question in the Perfusion Assistant's files.
The Perfusion Assistant's wasn't nearly detailed enough.
Cause: Given the fast-paced nature of CPB, ECMO and everything surounding cardiac surgery, professionals want access to quick, reliable information. It is for this reason that the Perfusion Assistant is trained to give brief yet thorough answers. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts at Perfusion Mind, sometimes the Perfusion Assistant doesn't grasp what's important about a certain topic and can give answer that's technically correct, but not comprehensive.
Fix: To have the Perfusion Assistant give longer, more-detailed answers (and, thus, override its training), do the following: At the end of your first question of the session, tell the Perfusion Assistant something like "please provide a lot of detail when answering this and all of my following questions." Doing this will make the Perfusion Assistant erase its brevity protocol for this session.
The following message appeared at the top of my screen and then disappeared when I asked a question: "The token has expired. Please wait a moment."
Cause: This is a completely normal message that appears when it has been a while since you asked your previous question. Your answer might just take an extra few seconds to be delivered to you because of some internal communication methods being rebooted.
Fix: Remain calm. Do nothing.
I'm unable to sign in using my phone number.
Cause: This could be for one of many different reasons.

I'm not receiving the one-time passcode (OTP) text that allows me to sign in.
Cause: This could be for one of many different reasons.
Fix: Email us at info@perfusionmind.com. Title your email, "USER ISSUE: NOT RECEIVING OTP." Include your full name, phone number and address. We will work on getting your account restored as quickly as possible.
I was never given the opportunity to create a password.
Cause: This was by design. One-time passwords (OTPs) are the wave of the future, kids. Embrace the increased security. Also, no password means no forgetting your password which means no more going through the time-consuming process of sent an email to reset your password. You're welcome.
Fix: Remain calm. Do nothing.
